Surgery Overview

There are slight variations between the procedures performed depending on the desired outcome and individual body. If you notice sagging or deflation in the gluteal region due to age, you will likely benefit from a traditional butt lift. This may require a surgical step that places the buttocks in a higher location. If you have yet to notice sagging in this region, the Brazilian Butt Lift will likely give you the fuller, bodacious results you’ve looked for.

Butt enhancement will likely take two to three hours. This is largely dependent on the amount of liposuction required. The procedure is often performed in an outpatient facility, allowing patients to return home after spending a few hours in recovery. Before undergoing your buttock lift, anesthesia or intravenous sedation will be administered in order to maintain patient comfort throughout the procedure.

First, the common areas of the body that have enough fat deposits will undergo liposuction. This fat will be removed from areas such as the hips and abdomen. Once this fat is removed, it will be purified and made injectable. This process involves separating out favorable and unfavorable fat cells that will likely produce the most successful results. Following the purification process, the fat will then be administered to the soft tissues of the buttocks, likely focusing on the upper region for ultimate fullness. The injectable fat will likely fall between 300 cc to 600 cc of fat per buttock. This fat transfer can help achieve the desired perkier appearance of your backside and slimming of your abdomen, hips, and more.

When Will The Results Be Noticeable?

Immediately following your procedure, results will be noticeable and your shape will have clearly improved. As with any procedure, some discomfort can be expected. Unlike more invasive surgery, the pain levels experienced following a buttock injection are far less severe. Every patient is different, but the discomfort is often compared to soreness or similar sensations of over-exercise.*

A critical aspect of recovery involves the compression garment you will be sent home with. While this piece can be removed the following day for a shower, you can expect to wear this garment for one to three weeks. The length of time you are recommended to wear this garment usually depends on your particular skin tone and the areas of treatment. Dr. Franckle will be sure to tailor your recovery to your specific needs. Up to 2 weeks of non-weight bearing status is required in the grafted areas. The patient must sleep on the belly or side, and only sit completely upright in a chair. This position transfers the weight mainly to the thighs and off of the enhanced upper buttock zone, avoiding pressure on the procedure site. This will be necessary to protect the fat injection sites and to ensure ideal results.

Many patients lead busy and active lifestyles and we understand getting back to “regular life” is a point of concern for many. After a butt lift, patients can expect to return to daily activities within several days. This may include returning to work or performing basic errands. As for exercise, you can expect to return to your regimen within several weeks.
