Brow Lift
Brow Lift Procedures
The signs of aging can appear all over our faces in different forms—from horizontal forehead wrinkles to deep ‘worry lines’ between the eyebrows to drooping skin over our eyes making us look old and tired. A brow lift, also referred to as a forehead lift, is a great option for men and women looking to eliminate the signs of aging plaguing the upper part of the face. Dr. Franckle and the committed, friendly staff at William Franckle, MD, FACS are here to help you through the entire surgical process, from consultation to recovery.
For some, this procedure can also be used to literally ‘lift’ relaxed skin on the forehead that has caused the eyelids to droop. Lifting the forehead and softening those worry lines can perk up the eyebrow area and reveal beautiful, youthful-looking eyes.
What Is a Brow Lift?
No two brow lift procedures will look the same. Each and every surgery is designed by Dr. Franckle to fit the patient’s particular needs. Commonly, a brow lift is used to eliminate the wrinkles that crease across the forehead, to help reduce the lines on the bridge of the nose, and to improve frown lines that form vertical creases between the eyebrows. For some, this procedure can also lift the eyebrows, raising sagging skin that is hooding the upper eyelids and revealing a lifted, more youthful appearance. The brow lift is a versatile surgery that can be combined with other cosmetic procedures to decrease the effects of aging over the entire face.
Ideal Candidates
An ideal candidate for a brow lift procedure is bothered by the signs of aging in the brow region. A discussion with Dr. Franckle can help set clear guidelines and expectations for results. Furthermore, a good patient will be in good health, a non-smoker, and up for following instructions to make sure the recovery goes smoothly.
Procedure
The specific areas to be treated and the incision sites will be determined by Dr. Franckle, taking into account the patient’s overall desired results. After general anesthesia is given to ensure the patient’s comfort during the surgery, a small cut is made along the hairline, as this is where the tissue and skin can be tightened, softening wrinkles across the forehead. The skin can be adjusted to hide any scars under the hair. Once complete, Dr. Franckle will close the incision with sutures or surgical tape.
Brow Lift Recovery
The first step in recovery is to wrap the head area with bandages to reduce swelling and bruising. Our staff will advise you on medications to apply or take orally to assist in the healing process and help ensure no infections arise. It is suggested that after surgery, you keep your head elevated, avoid intense activities, and do not heat or ice the area. The initial healing may take ten to 14 days. Once the sutures are removed, you may return to a normal routine. Over the next few months, the swelling will reduce, the incision lines will fade, and your final result will become apparent.
Brow Lift Results
The impact of a brow lift is noticeable immediately following the surgery. The softening of brow lines and other wrinkles along the top half of the face can have a positive effect on the whole appearance. As swelling fades, the lifting results from this procedure can help our patients look more youthful and perky and feel happier with their appearance. Following the procedure, a healthy lifestyle and diligent sun protection will maximize your results. We offer ZO Skin Health, the latest in breakthrough skincare from Dr. Zein Obagi, to our brow lift patients and all patients looking to maintain results from a wrinkle reduction treatment or procedure.
