What to Know About “Newtox”
If you happen to keep up with advancements in skincare technology you may be curious about a newer treatment to the market known as ‘Newtox’. This product, officially named Jeuveau, has a reputation as a more affordable injectable for clients who want fewer wrinkles and a more youthful appearance. How does it stand up to more established products like Botox®, which has been FDA-approved for decades? Here’s what curious individuals should know.
What Is Newtox?
When Jeuveau was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in February 2019, it became the first injectable neurotoxin approved for cosmetic use in almost 10 years. This product is a different strain of the same organism used in Botox® and like Botox®, it is used to help relax and reduce the depth of vertical lines between the eyebrows. Unlike Botox®, however, Newtox focuses strictly on cosmetic uses, it is not approved nor it is used to treat medical issues such as migraine headaches.
How Does the Treatment Process Work?
Every Jeuveau treatment begins with a consultation to understand what results you desire. At this consultation Dr Franckle will examine your complexion and facial expressions to ensure that the injectable is placed is the correct areas of the face to keep a natural appearance.
Newtox uses a tiny needle to make the necessary injections and typically causes only minor discomfort. Most patients are in and out of the treatment room in just 10 minutes. You may notice a bit of redness in the injection area, but this usually resolves within a few hours.
What Results Can Be Expected?
Within a week, you should begin to notice a smoother appearance in the treatment areas as muscle control begins to relax. Full results should be evident within 5-10 days of treatment and often last up to four months.
Jeuveau is appropriate for most patients who are free of allergies to its ingredients. It is not recommended for patients who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
